帆雨屋 (meaning "sailboat, rain") is located down a small alley, a short walk downhill from Senko-ji Temple. Its entrance features a long flagstone path, wooden fences, and a beautiful courtyard. Inside, there are only a few seats. The owner's matcha ice cream and hot matcha are especially delicious!

Had a really nice experience here with the elderly owner. She talked to us about her friends in Europe that were exchange students and she was such a wonderful host. We had lunch in her garden and it was a really personal and serene place to eat despite the more limited menu. Would recommend purely for how cosy the setting it and friendly the host is!

Cute cafe, great views & great kakigori shave-ice, down hill from Senkoji temple along paths of literature. Takes a long time to come, but pleasant atmosphere in old house. Vet small intimate place seats at 4 tables, max 10 people. Biggest table seats 4. Non- smoking.

Unique cafe in a 100-year old small wooden house. It was decorated with books and the owner's family heirlooms. Great view from the ivy-framed window. The brown sugar kanten was delicious. I was the only customer on a rainy day, and I enjoyed the peaceful calming atmosphere. When I asked for the toilet, I was told it was "through the garden, down the slope, under the tree". It was a mini adventure going to the toilet in the rain!
